Dear Families,
Please take a little time to go through our Middle School Handbook with your child. It includes all the key information you’ll need, and I’ll continue to update it over the year as needed.
If any questions come up, your child’s mentor should be your first point of contact, but of course, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Warm regards,
Adam Bernard
Head of Middle School
Good morning Parents,
As we approach the latter part of this term, I am aiming to get ahead of the final planning and logistical details for the captioned curriculum trip in 2026. This includes gathering important information about your child(ren)’s dietary needs, medical requirements, and some demographic data.
Please use this link Civil Rights Trip 2026 Registration form and enter the information in all fields by December 5, 2025. Please ensure that all information entered is accurate as this will be the main spreadsheet used for all planning related matters. Embedded in the form you will find four documents that will need to be printed, completed, signed, scanned and uploaded to the registration form before submission. These are: Overnight trip health form, general medication administration form, swimming waiver and Montgomery Whitewater waiver.
If you encounter any challenges downloading these forms, I have attached them for ease of reference. To centralize all the data collection, please try to upload the completed documents using the links provided on the form. In addition to the aforementioned, please upload a copy of your child's insurance card (back and front).
Please see attached itinerary for reference. This is subject to changes, which will be communicated by the end of term. I will communicate a date in February or March when we will host a virtual information evening to give you final details and logistics information. This will also be an opportunity for you to ask any questions or seek clarity on any aspect of the trip.
Until then, feel free to reach out to me at l.graham@bis-ny.org if you have any questions or concerns.
Regards,
Lance Graham (Trip Lead)

Dear Parents,
Thank you for attending the information evening tonight. By way of follow-up, please find a copy of the presentation from this evening here, and the recorded Zoom here (please do let me know if you experience any difficulty accessing any of the links). The links on the packing list are live links and will take you to examples of water shoes and rash guards.
As mentioned, the required forms are due by April 14th and can be emailed to me directly.
Administering medication form (only required if your child requires routine medication - it must be signed by a healthcare practitioner. Medication will be held by the trip leader and administered according to the directions provided from the healthcare practitioner)

In addition to the above waivers, some activities require completion of digital waivers. Some of these we are still waiting to receive, but in the meantime the snorkeling digital waiver can be completed. As additional waivers become available, these will be communicated via email.
Finally, nearer the time, I will be requesting information for dismissal arrangements on the Friday from JFK at around 5:30pm. Should you require assistance with collection, or if you are able to assist with collection of any other pupils, please do let me know and I would be happy to connect you.
As always, should any questions arise in the meantime, please do not hesitate to reach out.
I look forward to seeing many of you tomorrow at the Year 9 performance and if I don't get to see you, wishing you all a wonderful break.
Kind regards,
Kevin
